Before your first morning

  1. 1Pick a mission that matches how you actually fail to wake up — not the one that sounds most impressive at 11pm.
  2. 2Set the escape-hatch delay deliberately. Long if you want real friction, short if your mornings have flights in them.
  3. 3On Android, set Roosta to Unrestricted battery usage. Manufacturer battery savers are the leading cause of missed alarms.
  4. 4Test it. Set an alarm two minutes out, lock the phone, put it down and let it ring for real.

Before you install

What do I need to run Roosta?

A reasonably current iPhone or Android phone. Camera missions need a working rear camera, and the step, squat and push-up missions need the motion sensors every modern phone has. No account and no internet connection are required.

Does Roosta need an internet connection?

Only to set up a subscription. Everything else — scheduling, ringing, all missions including the camera ones, streaks — works completely offline, because nothing on the alarm path is allowed to require a network.

Does Roosta work on tablets or smartwatches?

Roosta is built for phones. There is no tablet layout and no watch app yet. A watch companion is one of the most requested additions and is being considered.
